MFAS: A MUSICAL FOR ACTORS IN SCHOOL

Aleah has written, composed, and produced the song-cycle MFAs: A Musical For Actors in School. This piece is told through the use of movement, original music, and spoken word. 

“MFAs tells the tale of four students as they work toward their Master's in Acting all while navigating this crazy thing called life. This story is told through the eyes of a young black woman living in the south and what she and her fellow classmates experience. From demanding schedules, to intimate relationships, to questioning their careers, MFAs touches many trials regularly faced in post-secondary education. This song cycle gives an insightful look into the lives of graduate students everywhere.”

A workshop of MFAs was performed through Aleah’s company, Hear Me Roar Theatre, on March 11th in Knoxville, TN.
